Origin & Story

This Tazrirt Collection runner works with the simplest possible pattern, the stripe, and lets the hand of the weaver show. Its black and ivory palette recalls the look often linked with Beni Ourain weaving. We do not attribute it to a specific tribe or region.

Design & Visual Identity

Black and ivory stripes of roughly equal width travel from end to end. Their edges ripple, so each stripe swells and narrows as it goes. About a fifth of the way along, a rectangular inset replaces the long stripes with tightly spaced horizontal lines, creating a change of rhythm.

Each end is closed by a narrow band of small black and ivory checks, followed by knotted ivory fringe. A braided black and ivory cord runs along the edge. On the reverse, the stripes appear as rows of short black dashes on a ribbed ivory ground.

Craftsmanship & Materials

Handwoven from 100% wool, the runner has a soft, shaggy pile that blurs the stripe edges slightly. Stripe width and the position of the inset panel are set by hand and vary from piece to piece. Each runner is made to order in the length you need.

Styling Your Space

A striped runner draws the eye down a hallway and makes a narrow space feel longer. It also works beside a bed, in an entryway or under a desk. Black and ivory go with any wall color and with wood floors of every tone.

Care & Everyday Use

Use a suction-only vacuum, working in the direction of the pile and stopping short of the fringe. New wool rugs shed loose fibers for the first weeks; this settles with use. Blot spills immediately with a dry white cloth. Turn the rug end to end twice a year and have it cleaned by a wool rug specialist when needed.

Size & Custom Orders

Custom sizes are available, including longer or wider runner formats. The rug is woven to order and the pattern is repeated or spaced to suit the length you choose. Measure the hallway or room before ordering and leave a margin of floor on each side. Slight variations in color and line are part of the handmade character.
