How to choose a Moroccan rug

Every rug on this page is made by hand in Morocco and made to order: the pile rugs are hand-knotted, the Zanafi kilims are flatwoven, and the colors come from natural dyes. On each product page you enter the width and length you need, in feet and inches or in centimeters, and the page shows the price and the estimated delivery for that exact size. Shipping is free worldwide, with import duties and taxes included.

Start with the style

• Beni Ourain style rugs: a thick, soft pile in ivory wool with dark lines and diamonds. The quiet choice for living rooms and bedrooms.
• Boujaad rugs: warm color and bold checks and stripes, for a room that needs a focal point.
• Zanafi flatweave rugs: woven flat, with no pile. They sit low under doors and suit hallways, entrances and dining rooms.
• TAZRIRT Signature: the designs that carry our name, from color blocks and chevrons to hand-drawn stripes.

Then the shape and the size

Most rooms take a rectangle. For a corridor, see our runner rugs; under a round table or in an entrance, our round rugs. Because each rug is woven for you, you are not limited to standard sizes: measure the space, then enter the size that fits it.

Berber rugs and Moroccan area rugs

In English, Moroccan rugs are often sold as “Berber rugs”. The word refers to the Amazigh people of North Africa, whose own name is Amazigh (plural Imazighen); many people today prefer it to “Berber”. The styles on this page come from Moroccan weaving traditions that are usually grouped under that name. Note that “Berber” is also used for a kind of machine-made looped carpet, which has nothing to do with these rugs.
