Tazrirt Moroccan Area Rug – Taupe Field with White Block Border – Handmade Wool

Origin & Story

This Tazrirt Collection rug takes a minimalist approach: one field color, one accent and one repeated shape. Its long pile and restrained palette recall the look often linked with Beni Ourain weaving. We do not attribute it to a specific tribe or region.

Design & Visual Identity

The field is a warm taupe, somewhere between beige and light gray-brown, with natural variation in tone. A frame of white rectangles is set a short distance in from the edge: five across each short side and a longer run down each long side. The blocks are hand-drawn, so their sizes and gaps differ slightly.

The center is left empty, which gives furniture a calm surface to sit on. On the reverse, visible at a folded corner, the white rectangles appear crisply in a flat weave. One end is finished with a short fringe, and small tassels mark the corners.

Craftsmanship & Materials

Handwoven from 100% wool, the rug has a high, shaggy pile that softens the edges of the white blocks. The surface is slightly uneven, as hand-finished pile tends to be. Each piece is made to order, and the number of blocks in the border changes with the size.

Styling Your Space

The border frames a seating group or a bed neatly: place furniture inside it or let the front legs rest on the frame. Taupe and white sit comfortably with gray upholstery, pale wood, leather and black metal. The rug suits modern, Scandinavian and Japanese-inspired rooms.

Care & Everyday Use

Vacuum with suction only and without a beater bar, which can pull long pile. Shake the rug out occasionally to lift the fibers, and expect some shedding at first. Blot spills at once with a dry cloth and avoid rubbing. Rotate the rug every few months and use a wool rug specialist for deep cleaning.

Size & Custom Orders

Custom sizes are available. Tell us the width and length you need and we will adapt the layout to those proportions. Please confirm your measurements before ordering. Because each rug is made by hand, tone, texture and pattern detail vary slightly from piece to piece.

Shipping & Returns

Worldwide shipping is available. The rug is produced to order, so allow time for weaving before dispatch and for transit afterward. We can give a current estimate for your size on request. Please read the Shipping & Returns policy for return eligibility, time limits and conditions for custom orders.
