Origin & Story

This Tazrirt Collection rug turns the classic grid into a field of solid blocks. The ivory ground and simple repeated shape recall the look often linked with Beni Ourain weaving, with blue in place of the usual black. We do not attribute it to a specific tribe or region.

Design & Visual Identity

Indigo squares are arranged in even rows and columns, separated by narrow ivory channels. The squares are slightly irregular: some are wider, some lean, and the blue varies from deep denim to a lighter slate. A broad ivory border frames the whole grid.

At each short end, beyond the border, a row of narrow blue dashes stands side by side like the teeth of a comb. The edge is finished with a braided ivory and blue trim and a small tassel at the corner. On the reverse, the squares appear as finely ribbed blue blocks in a flat weave.

Craftsmanship & Materials

Handwoven from 100% wool, the rug has a high, shaggy pile that softens the outline of every square. The grid is counted by hand, so rows drift slightly and no two squares match exactly. Each piece is made to order, and the number of squares depends on the size you choose.

Styling Your Space

Blue and ivory suit bright rooms with white walls and pale wood, and they sit well beside terracotta, tan leather and rattan. The wide margin means furniture can overlap the edge without hiding the pattern. Add blue in a cushion or a print to tie the room together.

Care & Everyday Use

Vacuum with suction only and without a beater bar, which can pull long pile. Shake the rug out occasionally to lift the fibers, and expect some shedding at first. Blot spills at once with a dry cloth and avoid rubbing. Rotate the rug every few months and use a wool rug specialist for deep cleaning.

Custom sizes are available. This rug is made to order, with the motifs scaled and spaced for the size you request. Check your measurements and decide how much of the rug furniture will cover. Slight variations in color and motif placement are part of the handmade character.
