Tazrirt Moroccan Area Rug – Ivory with Black Symbols & Striped Border – Handmade Wool

Origin & Story

This Tazrirt Collection rug follows the ivory-and-black vocabulary often linked with Beni Ourain weaving: an open ground, thin lines and a handful of symbols. We present it as a Moroccan wool rug in that style without attributing it to a specific tribe or region.

Design & Visual Identity

At the center, thin black lines cross to form two elongated diamonds joined end to end, with short branches at the sides. Around them sit smaller marks: crossed zigzags near the top corners, hourglass shapes, solid arrow-like blocks, open diamonds, chevrons and short zigzag strokes.

The motifs are loosely mirrored from left to right but never identical. A border of fine black and ivory stripes frames the field, finished with a solid black outer edge. The reverse shows each symbol sharply in a flat weave, and the short ends carry ivory fringe.

Craftsmanship & Materials

Handwoven from 100% wool, the rug has a soft, deep pile that slightly softens the thin black lines. Symbols are drawn by hand in the weave and vary in size and position. Each piece is made to order, so the arrangement will not match the photographs exactly.

Styling Your Space

The framed layout gives this rug a tidy presence under a seating group. It works with wood floors, concrete or tile, and with both neutral and strongly colored walls. Keep nearby patterns small so the fine line motifs stay visible.

Care & Everyday Use

Vacuum gently with suction only and keep clear of the fringe. On a light ground, deal with spills immediately: blot with a dry white cloth and avoid rubbing. Rotate the rug every few months and limit strong direct sunlight. Ask a wool rug specialist for deeper cleaning.
