Tazrirt Moroccan Area Rug – Ivory with Beige Squares & Purple Accent – Handmade Wool

Origin & Story

This Tazrirt Collection rug uses the ivory ground and squared grid often linked with Beni Ourain weaving, then shifts it off-center and adds one unexpected color. The result is calm, with a small element of surprise. We do not attribute it to a specific tribe or region.

Design & Visual Identity

Beige squares are laid out in rows, separated by thin ivory lines. They do not fill the rug: one block sits toward the upper left and a second block overlaps it lower and to the right, leaving stepped corners. Broad areas of plain ivory surround the grid, widest at the two ends.

Within the lower block, about four squares are woven in purple and bleed slightly into one another, forming a rounded patch. The beige ranges from oatmeal to light brown. On the reverse, the grid shows as ribbed squares in a flat weave, and both ends carry ivory fringe.

Craftsmanship & Materials

Handwoven from 100% wool, the rug has a deep, soft pile. Squares are counted and placed by hand, so their edges and sizes vary a little. Each piece is made to order; the position of the grid and of the purple accent may differ from the photographs.

Styling Your Space

The neutral palette makes this rug easy to place in modern, classic or bohemian rooms. Echo the purple with a small object or leave it as the only bright note. The open ivory areas work well under a sofa's front legs or at the foot of a bed.

Care & Everyday Use

Vacuum gently with suction only and keep clear of the fringe. On a light ground, deal with spills immediately: blot with a dry white cloth and avoid rubbing. Rotate the rug every few months and limit strong direct sunlight. Ask a wool rug specialist for deeper cleaning.
