Azilal Style Moroccan Wool Rug – Blue & Yellow Abstract Geometry

An Open, Asymmetric Composition

This rectangular Moroccan rug combines simple geometric elements with generous areas of ivory wool. A narrow black zigzag runs lengthwise through the center, giving the design movement.

A cobalt blue line crosses from one side before turning at a right angle and continuing toward the opposite end. Mustard yellow lines create an open frame, accompanied by an outlined square and a small solid diamond-like motif.

The irregular outlines give the composition a hand-drawn character, while the spacious arrangement keeps each detail distinct.

The warm ivory background softens the contrast between the vivid blue and dark zigzag. Mustard yellow adds a golden accent that connects the smaller motifs with the longer framing lines.

Fine black bands finish the short ends, complemented by twisted cream fringe. Subtle changes in the wool’s surface create gentle variations in shading across the neutral field.

Handwoven from 100% natural wool, this rug has a plush, textured pile. The close-up photographs reveal individual wool tufts and the way the surface changes with the direction of the fibers.

The colored motifs are integrated into the wool surface, with softly irregular edges that follow the texture of the pile. A folded corner reveals the woven underside and the finished edge.

Azilal–Inspired Moroccan Design

This rug draws inspiration from the expressive geometry associated with Azilal-style weaving. Its light background, colorful linear accents and asymmetric layout give it a contemporary character.

Each piece is individually handwoven in Morocco. Small differences in texture, line thickness and motif placement reflect the handmade process.
