Tazrirt Moroccan Area Rug – Ivory with Black Nested Stepped Frames – Handmade Wool

Origin & Story

This Tazrirt Collection rug uses the ivory ground and bold black lines often linked with Beni Ourain weaving in an architectural composition. The stepped shapes recall carved plaster or doorway profiles. We do not attribute it to a specific tribe or region.

Design & Visual Identity

The four panels are arranged two by two. Each begins with a large rectangular outline that is left open on the side facing the center. Inside sits a smaller outline, and inside that a stepped, notched shape. The left and right panels mirror each other.

Between the panels, the ivory ground forms a cross-shaped corridor running the length and width of the rug. A black line of even thickness frames the entire field, and the short ends carry a narrow striped band and ivory fringe. The reverse is a ribbed flat weave with the lines shown as black dashes.

Craftsmanship & Materials

Handwoven from 100% wool, the rug has a dense, soft pile, and the black lines sit almost level with the ivory. Lines are woven by hand and are slightly uneven, which softens the geometry. Each piece is made to order, and the panels are scaled to the size you choose.

Styling Your Space

This rug suits modern and Moroccan-inspired rooms alike. Place a coffee table over the central cross so the four panels stay visible around it. It pairs with gray, cream or rust upholstery and with pale or warm wood floors.

Care & Everyday Use

Vacuum gently with suction only and keep clear of the fringe. On a light ground, deal with spills immediately: blot with a dry white cloth and avoid rubbing. Rotate the rug every few months and limit strong direct sunlight. Ask a wool rug specialist for deeper cleaning.
