Origin & Story

This Tazrirt Collection rug uses the ivory ground and dark lines often linked with Beni Ourain weaving, arranged as a windowpane grid. The pattern is simple, and its hand-drawn quality keeps it from looking mechanical. We do not attribute it to a specific tribe or region.

Design & Visual Identity

Black lines run the length and width of the rug at close intervals, dividing the ivory field into small squares. The spacing is even at a glance and irregular up close: some squares are wider, some lines lean. That slight wobble gives the surface movement.

A plain ivory band finishes each end, and the sides are neatly bound. In the close-up photographs the pile is thick and curly, with the black lines sitting slightly lower. On the reverse, the grid appears as fine black stitches on a ribbed ivory ground.

Craftsmanship & Materials

Handwoven from 100% wool, the rug has a dense, soft pile. The grid is counted and woven by hand, so the number of squares and their exact proportions vary. Each piece is made to order, and the scale of the grid is adjusted to the size you choose.

Styling Your Space

A black and ivory grid works almost like a neutral. It suits modern and minimalist rooms, sits well under a wood or metal coffee table, and gives structure to softer schemes with color on the walls. Pair it with solid upholstery so the lines stay crisp.

Care & Everyday Use

Vacuum regularly on a suction-only setting, without a rotating brush. Blot spills straight away with a clean, dry cloth and do not scrub. Rotate the rug periodically so it wears evenly, and place a rug pad underneath for grip. For a full clean, consult a specialist experienced with wool rugs.

Custom sizes are available. The rug is woven to order and the pattern is redrawn to suit your dimensions. Measure your space before ordering and allow for door clearance over the pile. Small differences in shade, line and spacing are normal in handmade work.
